Sunday means two things: Trash and Treasure. And each Sunday, we’re presented with the choice of Coburg or Wantirna. This weekend, we were team Wantirna, but there’s no reason you can’t do both.
Each market has its distinct personality; however, they are both located on the grounds of drive-in theatres, with Coburg being the only one still operational.
Visit Coburg after dark and snuggle up to a movie with your fave friend, lover, or dog.
While I don’t like to pick faves, the cafeteria at Wantirna is pretty special. The furniture, fixtures, and menu appear just as I imagine they would have when Doctor Doolittle screened on opening night in 1967. There’s incredible moulded plastic furniture dotted around the market site for when you need a little rest in the shade too.
Trash and Treasure is, of course, about the thrill of discovery, and testing out your bartering chops, which I have discovered I have none.
